Shy...
I am the one and only Shyann Cherie. I am a twenty year old female. I was born September 23, 1986. Which means I am a Libra; the sign of balance. I have lived in Queens, New York my whole life, between Far Rockaway and Saint Albans. I am single with no children. I am a full time college student and I am working part time.
I mean what can I really say. I look at myself in this way. I am (my personality) is an experience. An experience that words cannot describe. Why? because they begin to contradict themselves (i.e. quiet, shy, volgur, outgoing, homebody). I try to always keep it positive in life and with the language I use. But there are those few people who (without an effort) can change that.
There is one thing that I hate and that is when people take my kindness for weakness. They are always up for a rude awkening.
Here are a few choice words about myself: Laid Back. Smart. Loving. Caring. Responsible. Respectful. Romantic. Freaky. Unique. Creative. Quiet. Fiesty. Fun. Shy. Funny. Sarcastic. Impatient. Calm. Kind-Hearted. Talented. Emotional. Secretive.
Education...
I have spent many years of my life confused about what I will pursue career wise and what the future holds for me. The two years that I spent at St. Johns University feels as it was a waste of time, I accomplished nothing. With my transfer to Queens College I am more aware of the direction my future is leading me. I am currently a junior at Queens College. My major is history and my minor is Secondary Education. Within the next two years I will be teaching high school social studies. Eventually I will become a high school social studies teacher but I have decided it would be in my best interest to put teaching off for a few years. I will still pursue my degree and certifications in this area. Other than that, Education wise there are quite a few things that i plan on tackling; different degrees and certifications. I am focused on school. My everyday life revolves around it.
I have a four year plan, give or take a few months but here it goes
*History & Secondary Ed. Bachelors from Queens College - 1.5 years
*Music Engineering & Production Certification from SAE Institute - 9 months
*Graduate School for an unknown major at an unknown school - 1 to 2 years
Family...
I was born to Wendy (of Queens, New York) and Albert Lee (of Pine Bluff Arkansas). I am one of two children for my mother and one of three children for my father. You could say that I am somewhat estranged from my paternal side of my family. My life has been my mother. She has made me the person I am. Her strong, harsh at times, personality has prepared me for the world. I love her dearly. Everything that is mines, is hers. It has always been just my mother, the little boy (my brother) and myself. She has done everything she could to provide for us.
Interest...
There is no real reasons to talk about my dislikes, So lets hop straight into my interest. I like to go shopping, take pictures, go out, clubbing, chilling with friends, listening to music, web and graphic design and reading (the book section was a dead give away for that one).
Music: I am a music head. I do not know what I would do if I didnt have access to music. That would be the point in my life i would really consider suicide. When it comes to music (like everything else), I do not limit myself. I listen to any and everything, from Rap to Rock to R&B and Country. Like everyone else on the internet my music is downloaded but at the same time, I have a large collection of actually CD's purchased in stores and via the internet.
Web & Graphic Design: I have been doing this for about 8 months. I started out far ahead of others. The first thing I did was get a domain (a free domain). I find web and graphic design to be very intriguing. I can see myself pursuing this profession wise but right now i am very undecided.
Reading: I am an avid reader. Every book I read, I buy. I have an extensive personal collection/library. I buy atleast 6 books a month and read all of them within the month of purchase. Borders/Waldens Books & Barnes and Nobles <3 me. I read about any and everything but a large percentage of my book purchases are towards books that are written and/or published by African Americans and other minorities.
